Soon he moved to Paris and with Jeacques Villeglé he began experimenting with photo/video. Then with him he joined the Nouveau Réalism group, and with him, François Dufrêne and Mimmo Rotella he created the “affiches lacerées”, layered sections of torn posters recovered from the street, mainly on sheet metal, “ready made” works by a multitude of anonymous passers-by, as well as products of the city itself. In the mid-1960s he began creating Seita and Saffa, iconic figures of his artistic expression, representing used matchboxes. He took part in the Paris and Venice Biennales, and was present at the Moma, the Pompidou and in the major international museums.
