After his studies he left Sicily and settled in Rome, where the meeting with Alberto Burri changed his life, discovering the material and the oval shape: from then on this hollow and raised shape became the protagonist of his three-dimensional painting. It gives new visual perceptions, with its monochromatic surface that changes with the variation of the light: Simeti, gradually detaching himself from the uniformity of the canvas, arrives at the creation of works full of depth and movement. In the 1980s he created a very linear sculpture for Gibellina, a slab of traventine instead of the usual canvas (Impronta, stone slab of 1980), where the artist transferred his oval geometric plasticism. In the 1990s he moved permanently to Milan, from where he worked and exhibited throughout Europe, the United States and Asia.
